Beautiful Rachel, thanks for posting. It’s very helpful for me to see how you bound where it transitions from plait to twist. I was always curious how the veterans dealt with that hinge.

Garret’s got nice form, i’m sure he’s got an amazing teacher.
That whip is looking great Rachel and it sure moves very well. Your twisted tapers always look so perfect, they really are a treat to inspect. Is it easier to twist hide compared to nylon?

Thank you Mr. Robert and Jyri. There is an email address in the first post, i’m assuming that’s all that’s needed.

Does one have to have a paypal account to buy the tickets? I’ve never used paypal before and am uncertain about how to go about it. Also i’d love to make a whip for the cause! I’ve had it in the back of my mind since this was announced. I’ve only a little more than a handful of them under my belt ...

That is a beefy whip! It looks great Craig. I always love seeing the pictures of other people’s work here on WB. I agree, that concho is cool and goes well with the color scheme. I really like the heel knot too. Nice work!

I just realized something. I incorrectly said four bellies when it is in fact three bellies plus the overlay. I don’t know why I said four. Sorry bout that.

Looking good Collin. I read the diamond plait was giving you problems, but by the looks of it you got it sorted out very well. I look forward to seeing what you do for the handle.

Thank You for checking it out everyone.
Andrew it was hearing you talking about the 10ft you are working on that nudged me towards building one myself. So thanks :) I’ll write more about the build later, I haven’t much time left on my break.

Hey y’all. I’ve been taking pictures while building my first 10 foot four belly whip. Thought i’d share. I found a lot of good quality pink cord for very cheap, so i’ll be hiding it on the insides of my whips for a while.

Thank you for the recommendation on the gloves Robert. Weight lifting gloves are a great idea.
I love how you prepared the handle Jyri. I’ve got a few walking sticks/staffs that i’ve burned and waxed. It truly makes a beautiful finish on the wood.
The progress is looking good! Is that bluish binding ...

Jyri I recognize those leather gloves with the fingers cut off and coming apart at the seams because the fingers were cut off. I’ve found baseball batting gloves work pretty well.
I love how the color of your whips match the snowy environment i’ve seen in a lot of your videos. It makes them look ...

Wow, that is a sleek looking whip. No frills draws the attention to the basic shape of it, which is very nice. The last picture truly shows the snake-like shape of it. Nicely done Jessie.

Thank you craig. I saw that color scheme first in one of Rachel’s whips so the compliment goes to her. :)

Mr. Robert, The more I practice with a whip the more I appreciate the form of slower movements. It just feels better. So i’m sure long whips with good weight will always be my preference.

Another question for the whip makers..
The way I’ve added another layer of plaiting on the stock whip handle to bulk it up a bit, can I do that same thing for the overlay on a three bellied bullwhip, starting a few inches before the transition? I’m thinking about this so the handle doesn’t get too ...

Ron, that’s exactly what I think of when I see the burgundy and yellow together, school colors :)

Jessie thank you. I still need to get used to such a long handle, though I haven’t been able to try it out much with the crappy weather we’ve been having. I think i’ll make a longer thong to go with ...

My whips thread

I figured I might as well make a thread for the whips I make instead of a new thread for every whip.

This one is the last bullwhip I made, whip #5.
6.5ft, 16 plait. First whip i’ve made with no shot loading.

That’s still a fine looking whip. I am a fan of the zebra look, and love how the stripes get further apart with the drops and eventually fade out to just brown. The handle is beautiful! The grain makes it look like you carved a twist into it, very unique.
Nice work Mark!
