Thanks, Flemming, I agree, they are fun. On the stick whips I've made so far I've tried to keep the transitions kind of tight because they loosen as they get used. If they are too tight then the whip doesn't crack as well, especially if isn't held right, sort of like the bend in a bull whip, you kind of have to keep it lined up.

Thanks Georg and Jeff, nothing fancy on the overlay, all one color (same color as the belly,) a 16 plait with a bit of variation in the plait near the keeper. I'll finish with a 6 or 8 plait at the fall hitch.

Okay, I finally got the lace cut for the overlay. A bit over 144 ft (48 m) Now to stretch it, resize, taper, and bevel it.
And the handle is made It turned out pretty nice, I think.
