Thanks, Tyler!
Mr. Jesse a Steer Whip is my version and name for a not-fully-loaded Bull (a slightly trimmed version of a bull- a Steer
)
It has a fiberglass rod of variable length (to which can be added a little lead weight for balance to the handle/heel if wanted) and no transition knot. I start a shorter length plait (short herringbone, diamond, etc), which I believe is a little stronger and offers more support to the transition, a few inches past the transition and on up the handle to the heel. What you don't see is I do this on every belly as well. Because of that I chose to make it a feature and not put the transition knot on it- everything in the open and seen. I use a handcut wood grip to finish it.
Because the handle is lighter I can make it as nose heavy as I want, or heavier to the heel. The thong pattern remains the same.

Just Jesse is fine. I hate titles. The only time is ever use a title is when I'm at a reenactment. And then, I'm known as the Sergeant. My persona is a former sergeant in the British Royal Marines who served during the War of Spanish Succession.
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates.
