This is the firmness at the transition as of now.

(sorry about the blurriness, seems like the camera was focused more on the fence.)

Hm....I suppose if you are hit hard enough with it...you would feel rather somnolent.

Thank you so much Bobbie. Improvement is what it's all about.

Thank you Rachel it's a lot better start.

Somniare the whip of your dreams. :) :) :)

Sonic Air , if no one has ever use it, would be a good name for a line of whips. ( anyone feel free to use it, first to use it get's it)

That's a lot of effort and detail in the core Ron,
I like the idea of sinkerline in the core plaiting, cans't wait to see how it works out.

Thank you Fritz.
It does make for a sold feeling core and the tapered twist, I hope , will promote a taper from
the start and taper the weight as well.

Well, I finished the first " belly" but the numbers were giving me fits for most of the day yesterday.
Trying to figure strand lengths for a normal belly is pretty straight forward to me, but trying to configure the TT into it
and have it all come out to the desired length failed.

I am going to have to undo and rethink / plan the whole thing again.
Here are the photos of what it looks like. The colors are just for the belly only made from left over and inferior paracord.
I did find out that the pattern in the black strand are reflective ... who knew.

I did learn something while doing the TT.
Inspired by David's " binder winder" (string thing) I used a pair of vice grips.
I clamped them on the doubled strands and just "jump rope" twirled them clock wise then wound the
twisted strands over each other counter clockwise and used a hemostat to secure it. Moved the vice grips further down and repeated the process.

It's pretty fast and easy on the hands but I might be looking for just a little bit lighter vice grips if I decide to continue doing TTs that way.

(On a side note: make sure they are clamped securely to the strands before you start twirling .... bad things can happen if they come off at speed.)
:)

OK, I was disappointed in how the whip was progressing and it was going to be too short if I continued.

I un-plaited what was done and thanks to Rachel's help figured out a better plan of execution.
I have increased the target length to 10' so maybe when it's all done I might end up with what I was shooting for in the first place. :DDDDD

The first belly is no going to be 8PL and it looks like it's not going to be too big or too small for the 1/4" handle.
I am still using the inferior paracord for it because it's not going to show and I don't believe it will affect the performance of the whip over all.

YeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaa! Here we go again !

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I loaded one sinker line in each strand of the 8PL. :)

I have planned to do double strand drops on this whip to see how it does with the taper.
From previous post I have read, most seem to agree that it does promote a better taper
and easier to keep the lines straight.

I was thinking that this would be done by dropping the bottom two strands and temporarily wrapping them around the core
and plait over them with U2 O1 on both sides then after all the strands have been used to trim off the ends and just continue on plaiting.

With an odd number of strands on both sides I just am not sure if this is right.
Does anyone else drop two strands at the same time like this?
