Latest, finally I'm working on the whip I intended to be working on 8 whips ago.
This one is 7.5 ft 12 plait neon pink and dark acid purple.


This one is based on the figures I've been working on to work the clunkyness back out of my pattern.
It's rust 10 ft 16plait.

Yessir I am learning what I wanted to. A heavier whip, little more weight further out, not too much. There's the fine point of balance. Whip # 10, 11 both too much weight forward. Now, back to at least better balance. They don't seem to be so light or to heavy on the tip. If my math transfers to this next one it will prove to me I finally hit on something. I hope
It'll be the same ratio as the 10 footer above, but 7 foot.

I feel sure that weight distribution in the thong is the real secret of a good whip. I'm full of admiration for anyone who can get the results they want from mathematics. (I know most of the achievements of the modern world depend on maths, but I still usually feel as bamboozled as I did when I failed to grasp algebra as a schoolboy!)

That 10 footer looks the business Rachel.
I really like the higher plait counts. 16 Plait gives the plaitwork a cool finish when plaited nicely, and you're certainly getting the hang of this.
I'm inspired to start another whip too now. It won't happen until the new year though I don't think, got too much on at the moment.

I sure agree with you from my limited experience!
Math and I have a precarious relationship, but it supplies a consistency I can't have without it... So I go to the playground and play nicely with Math hoping it'll help me out...

That big badass rust 16-plait is really cool, in fact it just became my personal favourite of all your whips. All business and no nonsense. I bet it looks much more of that after some years when the handle ages a bit. Does it have a loaded core or something like a tapered twist?

Pokkis, thanks! No loaded core, just the tapered twist. Thus far with the exception of my first whip and the recent short one I made with a bb loaded core, all of them have tapered twist cores.

Well, no matter what you put inside of a waxed 16 plait, a waxed 16 plait is heavy- at 10 feet! At least for me as one of the shorter folks
Yes with the 16 plait waxed at that length I don't see a giant need for metal, except in a working whip at personal preference of the handler.
