Tyler, it is more dense than blood wood, but the weight and hardness are about the same. It isn't as dense as Gonçalo but it's harder. It has a little more coarse texture than the other 2 so I don't think it will burn as nicely. I will burn a scrap piece and see how it goes.
Thank you Rachel! Looking forward to seeing your handiwork with the Jatoba

@ Roy Partin:

Again - you have made a very beautiful whip Mr. Partin !!!
I can imagine that this whip must be incredibly loud (long handle, 12 foot thong and lots of weight) !!!

Thank you very much for sharing !!!

All the best
Ben

Thank you kindly Mr Robert.
I appreciate the compliments Ben! Yes, it has an extremely loud crack. Cattle will be able to hear it for miles

Here is a pair in black and red I just finished. One is 6' and the other is 8'. They were ordered by a martial arts man whom specified the handles to be kamagong wood. It's the same hard ebony that the fighting sticks are made of. It's beautiful wood but it takes some sharp tools to turn it.

Beautiful wood, I bet they did require some sharp tools.

Those are really unique and sleek work, well done, Roy!

The wooden handles look extremely elegant (beautiful grain and shiny surface) and are a pefrect match for the thongs - outstanding good work Mr. Partin !!!

Appreciate it Ben. That wood polishes up nice but it's not something I would want to work with very often. It's hard and expensive

Special ones aren't they! Pretty badass looking I'd say. They do have a 'martial' look to them indeed. Powerful!

Hi Roy. Is it a paracord whip ? It's very beautiful. It is not too difficult to use to work ?

Thank you kindly Erik and Christoph.
Christoph, yes they are paracord and work very easy

Sorry for the really late reaction but how did you like working with the Jatoba? Did you have an allergic reaction? That handle looks great too.

I keep meaning to do a write up, but jatoba has impact resistance and toughness on par with the best hickory.

Efren, I am growing fond of Jatoba. It does tear up my sinuses, so I always wear a mask when near it.
