Bobbi, I'm glad that you like the pictures, the show whip works fantastic, so smooth, so easy to crack. And I love the rustic color combination, so I used a rustic style for the photo set.
And it is a great honor, that you will give a color my name, many thanks. ;) ;) ;)

Best wishes,

Mario

Thanks everyone! Mario, you really do have such a wonderful talent! I'm so proud to have your pictures on my website.

This is a whip that is being donated to the Relay for life cancer organization. They have asked me to lead the Survivor lap... whipping all the way! I'm really nervous to be in the spotlight for that long but it is for a good cause.

Golly! That's magnificent, Bobbi! And, as Einar says, a very good cause!

I'm kind used to the "normal" patterns over the years. But you - with your "changing" patterns within the same whip, you give it life! I wonder why others don't copy that, too. Your idea of gems in the heel was copied in the meantime. But I think, here it takes more than to simply copy something. To do these patterns, you have to know what you do. Great work, Bobbi.

Thank you for sharing.

Absolutely beautiful patterns Bobbi. You definitely got your own style going on there. I love doing charity events like that, it always gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. I hope you put on a good show for those people. Good luck

Thank you very much, Gentlemen!

Roy, I'm not sure if it will be a good show or not. A quarter mile of whipping seems really excessive to me.

They are having a "Western" theme which is kind of weird because we live in the west... I had my heart set on a brown and turquoise whip because I wanted to use that piece of turquoise and then they wanted to know if we could do purple. So that pattern is simply Me not compromising with my art. ((that much))

Robby don't worry about the copiers. I had a whipmaker contact me yesterday and inform me that he would be making and marketing my Bodlak whip. ((at least he told me)) It would be a lie if I said it didn't get under my skin a little.
I've been seeing copper handles show up on "PH" whips.
I see gems in the heel too but that doesn't bother me too much because I seriously doubt that most people will spend the money to have really nice stones in every whip. Most likely they will go with something cheap and it will look that way. I've been studying geology and the spiritual properties of stone since I was about 3. It is truly a passion of mine and its ok with me if other people "get it".

That is too many words! Lets see some pictures!

The Bodlak whip soon to be copied!

This whip is special because of that lilac color. I had to get it specially for this whip.

I just like the contrast in this picture of the whips and the fallen trumpet flowers.

Nice work Bobbi, I bet the turquoise leaves a streak in the air when cracked, very intriguing combination. I love the pairing with a turquoise stone in the handle as well.

Thank you, Devin. You are right. It is very visually interesting when in motion.

"Don't worry about the copiers" you say? Hm. I don't have your greatness, Ma'm... I hate these guys. And if he told you or not - by the way - who is that whip maker? - he should ask you! Not only tell. It's the same with my DVDs. In Vol. IV I explain how to make a "Silencer" cracker. So you don't bother your neighbors when you practice in your garden. Three month later Adam Winrich presented a video: How to make a "Silencer" cracker - so you don't bother your neighbors. Also in Vol. IV I explained how to do the "trick" with cutting a target you hold yourself. Guess what... A few month later Adam Winrich and Paul Nolan both had videos on youtube how to crack targets you hold yourself...

When I use material from another person - my DVDs or your whip designs - I should ask! And if I don't do that, I should give credit to the person who did that first! But there's no honor. They don't invent themselves. They copy and act, like it was their ideas. Again - if you have the greatness to accept that; I don't.

The design of your gemstone in the heel was copied by Jeremiah Coffee. He has the pictures in the forum. In his thread. Okay, you can't say "This is my invention". But at least I've never seen anything like that before you did it. And the least thing he could do is, to post: "I was inspired by the work of Bobbi Holyoak's Show whip".

Or am I so wrong...?

Anyway - the lila colored whip is cool...!

Robby, lets go easy on Jeremiah, shall we? Some times it is a matter of "what do I have kicking around the house that will fit in an end knob?".

Speaking of that... I have 40ish eyeballs that I am willing to send to anyone who wants them. They are 20mm, glass on one side with a paper picture on the back. I have multi color, red, green and gold. I was going to put them on the TW whips and decided against it.

That looks neat Bobbi. I'm currently shopping around for glass alligator eyes. I found some on a taxidermy supply site. Thinking about putting them in the end of my cow whip handles. I like the looks of yours also

The glass eyes from a taxidermist would be a better option. These didn't work for me because the paper backing wasn't so compatible with the waxing process.

Those eyes are pretty cool Bobbi! I love that Lilac whip, the color is really striking. I'll be coming out with some pipewhips sometime down the road, and while I was inspired by your show whips, I promise I'm not copying your design! I will credit you with the idea on my site though :)

I don't think there is any point in getting too wound up about people copying your work. Even if your work was copy righted, all there has to be is a small change and it is differant.
It is something that we risk when we share photo's and descriptions of our work.
Plus: They have to match your skill level in building a copy b4 they are a threat!

There has been times when I think I've come up with something new, but then down the track you find that someone has already done it. Still, I think it is nice to acknowledge someone when you know it was their idea that you are doing. Keep up the good work Bobbi.

That's exactly what I mean - when you're inspired by anyone else's work it's not only fair, it's a question of honor to give that person the deserved credit!
