Just glad you figured out it was nothing. I started with multi colored so my first one color thong gave me fits. I honestly think its an optical illusion thing. Now, youve got that fear licked and can just enjoy binding. Cuz, you know, binding....

Can't decide on the next 'style' whip I'd like to try to make, but the cowwhip is pretty high up there.

Yessir I make my own handles. That one is oak, I will show the progression photos (really simple thing anyone with a rasp and a vise can do...) on my build for the whip swap. It's not hard... Just time consuming. If you have a lathe.... That would be cool

Hard to see but it's olive drab and coyote, and burgundy and coyote. Can't make up my mind on colors for my swap whip and I had these bellies done so I put an overlay on them. Ordered a couple colored cords, so I will be ready to put an overlay on the swap whop whoop whup shoop ship whip soon I hope, but I have another project to finish first. I might hunt up some different wood for the swap wap handle, too. ~To be continued~
I failed to say, these are 6.5 and 7 feet, respectively. Oak handles.

Thank you, Mr. Robert, Jessie is very gifted with words, isn't she! I often find myself scratching my head trying to remember the one I want. I always enjoy reading Jessie's descriptions of different events, it's like we are right there watching it happen.

My favorite is the black and grey. Tight, clean, straight plaiting, and no twist! I prefer 16 plait, but then I've never handled a cow whip before.

Just from appearance, I'd say there's nothing to complain about at all.

Time to take down the 'amateur' and hang 'professional' shingle out. Beautiful work Rachel!

They look superb, the black with the dark handle looks very nice.
I can only hope one day mine will look like that.
