This is the final finishgin twist on the overlay, not a tapered twist core. It's a 10 foot whip. I think a 10 foot twist would be...longer. :)

I've seen Somewhere it was asked and I've heard a good "rule of thumb" is one inch of twist for every foot of length... I usually add a couple extra inches. Example: 6', 8" twist... 4 ft, 6" twist... It's up to you what kind of balance you want. I've seen many that are 10' with 3.5 Feet of twist.

That "somewhere" being here, Roy was in the conversation as were Devin and Tyler if I remember what I read right.

Jessie, the trick to riding on a plane is not to put all your weight in the seat.
That way the plane is lighter and if every one did that there would be fewer crashes.
Some just don't get my logic. :)

Oh Ron.

Thanks Rachel. I need to find that thread and put it in the FAQ. That's a good one.

10', I'd guess between 10"-16", depending on what you are looking for. 16" being on the longish side...
Depends on what kind of fall you are putting on it. If you're putting a heavier thicker fall, you may not wish to taper the internal strands off too quickly. If it's a lighter fall and that's your full intent- a lighter tipped whip- then a little longer twist with it tapering sooner seems to work well.

Now I will hush and we will ask the actual experts to weigh in ;)

I consider you an expert. I have only made a couple of these things. Expert away.

You're sure Welcome, Jessie. I think it's in one of the original Masters Gallery sections- Devin's or Tyler's

I'll put it on my to do list for tonight after work. Today is my long day. Made even longer when tethered to the phone by a headset. I should hang a hook here so I can plait while I wait for customers to call.
