Well, I finally found the time to resize, bevel and plait the belly of this whip.

That looks great Mark. I was surprised how fun it is to crack a stockwhip. I would love to see how stiff the transition is before you use it

Thanks, Flemming, I agree, they are fun. On the stick whips I've made so far I've tried to keep the transitions kind of tight because they loosen as they get used. If they are too tight then the whip doesn't crack as well, especially if isn't held right, sort of like the bend in a bull whip, you kind of have to keep it lined up.

Very nice Mark! Excellent taper you have there. Can't wait to see what the overlay turns out to be.

I am very curious how your overlay will look.

Thanks Georg and Jeff, nothing fancy on the overlay, all one color (same color as the belly,) a 16 plait with a bit of variation in the plait near the keeper. I'll finish with a 6 or 8 plait at the fall hitch.

Okay, I finally got the lace cut for the overlay. A bit over 144 ft (48 m) Now to stretch it, resize, taper, and bevel it.

And the handle is made It turned out pretty nice, I think.
