yep, but I thought it would weigh down the look. the next one will be different and much lighter and more gravity defying. I'm dealing with almost limitless strength--I need to take full advantage of the aesthetic effect. if it takes a bit more work overall, its worth it.

Jessie, that is insanely cool. It took me a minute to "get" that you welded the handle rigid, once I understood that it was like "lightbulb!" I think this is a perfect Ghost Rider theme whip. Samuel, the flames keep the handle warm :p

Finally. For such a straightforward looking whip handle, this was the pickiest of all. My WORD. The Sherlock Holmes whip. There is a real smoking pipe on the heel with 4 knots down the thong. The floating graphic is a cameo silhouette of Holmes himself with his pipe. I designed the handle so the user could hang onto the pipe if they really wanted to, but still had room to hang onto the handle below the pipe in between the two knots as well. With this in mind, the handle is a little long at 14 inches. The thong is 6.5 feet long in a kind of "tweed" paracord to simulate Holmes' overcoat. Despite all the nitpicky stuff, It cracks easily and straight. I also made sure the the curve of the thong faces forward with the pipe pointed down. I thought it would be the easiest to crack that way.
And this is a milestone for me. The donation whip was #19 and this will be the 20th whip I have ever made. Whip #20.

The pipe at the end will make it not easy to do things like a victorian cutback - but that's totally okay. This whip is a special one. The problem I see is this... If you go on and make those beautiful things, we need to invent another word for "great work".
The color combination fits perfectly to the Holmes image. You should just make sure in the description that the pipe is not for smoking. You never know who's going to buy that whip. And when he puts tobacco into the pipe and tries to light it... Remember McDonalds and the stupid woman who sued MacDonalds because it was not written "Hot content" on the coffee cup when she spilled it over herself. I would mention "The pipe is for decoration purpose only! Don't try to use it for smoking!" in the description. Serious...

Thank you
I really enjoy doing it. After you get it all done and waxed and see it as a whole thing, its the best feeling. I absolutely can't wait to try it and see how it behaves. That part of the process is just as fun as making the handles.
Robby, I think there would have to be some talented smokers to be able to toke off of a pipe with no mouthpiece. But I guess I can add that description in there. Damn. Now I have to try the victorian cutback. The way I positioned the pipe for cracking, you might be able to do it...I'm glad you all like it. Thanks for the compliments.
