Jessie, I'm not one for pink, but this looks good...really good!

This looks so great, almost to good to actually use it! A little unusual to put a lot of effort in these things, that‘s why they can be bought for a few dollars, as they’re doomed to become dirty very soon when the thong permanently touches an often muddy paddock. A great present for a horse person!

Thank you.

I know, you boys don't like pink. I, however, seem to attract the girls and I happen to love pink. Maybe girl whips are my niche.

I think for shows it would be ok. Often the rings are covered with clean sawdust. My bestie participates in the 3-day training challenges where they get a horse that isn't trained in much of anything and the trainer has 3 days to train the horse to do things. Load up in a trailer, halter break them, saddle break them, things like that. The best trainer wins. She said something like this, for events like that, would be cool. IDK. My customer was at a loss as to what to get his wife and daughter for Christmas.

I am roughing out a dragon whip for one of the prizes, for either Pete Gamble's thing or the Dog Shelter thing. I haven't decided. My vision consists of smoke painting above the dragon, black thong and black and metallic green knots. It begins:

Jessie, this could be absolutely super! :)

I hope so. I'm not a very adept sculptor, so we'll see what I can do with paint after it's cured.

Jessie, you might not think you're adept, but you seem to me to produce remarkable results! :)

Now that's going to look pretty cool, I think.

Awesome Jessie.

I would love a fire breathing dragon with a red / orange thong as the fire.
But what you have planned is going to be super.

Well, Some clean up with the needle pointy thing and a cooking should a permanent dragon make. Like I said, I'm not a very good sculptor, but maybe paint will make him angrier...or meaner. Currently he is hanging from a glass cake pan in the oven for the next 45 minutes.

This is so very cool. No one else would even attempt this for a whip handle.
Shine on Jessie. :)

Well, after some blood, sweat and tears, he is finished. I may try again for something a little more spectacular, but here is attempt #1. 5.5 foot thing, 12" handle for an overall length of 6.5 feet. 12 plait. TT ending. Hand sculpted, hand painted with smoke painting (candle painting) at the heel end.

That whip looks simply gorgeous. The knots, the taper, the plaiting and - of course - the dragon! I've never seen anything like it. I would prefer the dragon to crawl upwards; To the transition. But that is a matter of personal preference. Not more. The "smoke" above the head of the dragon looks really smoky. I don't know how to say that in a better way. But what I can say in veeeery clear language: Great work, Jessica Edwards!
