I see, master. Like the flower in the pond that is under the surface, but still is a flower...
Now I realize that I not only have to know the flowers on top of the water, but not to forget
those who are not yet visible.
I thank you, master. For sharing your knowledge with me. Again.
I need a tea, now. A very big pot of tea...

Hey! Stop mucking up my area with your fooling around! If you all aren't going to sit here and talk about how awesome Jessie is in the Jessie Thread, get the hell out.

Jessie,
Going back to what someone said somewhere in here. About your knots. If you do not like the more complex gaucho, herringbone, and pineapple knots you could always go for a two pass 7 part 6 bight turkshead.

Thanks! I have a book. I just did 2 whips with different knots on them. Ring bolt and diamond. I will absolutely do other knots when they apply to the look, especially if they aren't commonly seen on a whip.

Jessie, you're awesome for inspiring the kind of thing that just happened.

I'm a bit confused right now. Jessie already made two different whips with different knots. Did anyone realize that? I mean - you say you'd like to see more knots in her repertoire. But she already did. Did I miss something?

Ah, please excuse me for being a little unspecific! Let me explain: apart from the servings - which are gorgeous and unique - the turk's heads I've seen on Jessie's whips so far are - most if not all - 4 Bight, 4 lead -knots with different amount of passes. Something that - as a knot geek - just caught my eye!
So my point is I wanted to encourage Jessie to expand and experiment with different knots also: odd bights, long turk's heads, maybe a gaucho... : )? I guess I let myself assume that - seeing only certain kinds of design - maybe Jessie hadn't experimented a lot with different turk's head designs and being the knot fan I am - I'm always happy to see variation. If that's not the case - forgive me and forget about what I said- the whips look nicer and nice after every one!
Jessie, I see your point in giving visual room for the handle design - it actually gave me something to think about.
By different I didn't necessarily mean more complex, I just love to see the right knot in the right place!

I've explored. I've been trying out a lot of different knots and once I do them, I don't like them and rip them off. They just seem too heavy for what i want... Check out a guy named Johnny Debt on YouTube. He is a knotter I follow. He's working on a signet-hitch variation I asked him to figure out for me. Ashley Book of knots has all the knots, but suck at telling you how they are done. The Marlinspike Sailor is another book I have been studying often.
Here's a different knot. As you can see, there is really no visual need for a graphic of any kind. My daughter does't like my fancy handles, so I made a plain one for her.

Jessie, I love that color combination and the matching cord at the transition fits it perfectly.
I know you have experimented with stains and such and sometimes that can be all the "graphics" that's needed on a handle.
This is another Jessie whip for sure, but simpler. It's still recognizable as your style.
Good job WS.

It reminds me of a Cabella's advertisement. This is the Eddie Bauer whip series...
All a real outdoorsman ever needs...The Eddie Bauer whip... **insert cheesy commercial survivalist music here...and a Ford pickup on a rock pile**
I'm kind of glad I am out of these colors now. My daughter thinks its "cool, though she isn't happy not being able to choose the colors. If she practices more than 3 minutes every week, I might consider a Christmas present in her colors. Until then, she gets scraps and leftovers. Besides, people pay extra for the Eddie Bauer package. She should be thrilled

She doesn't like your fancy handles? Sheesh, some people's kids :p.
That looks great! What is the long knot there Jessie?

That is a 21-lead, 4-bight example of why sailors swore so much.
My oldest daughter has the desire for music and creativity, but was instead blessed with the imagination, taste and talent of her father. Her father is very left brain, her mother is very right brain. I wanted to name her Ivy Gretchen Edwards, my husband wanted to name her Jane Ann Edwards. You can see now, why she struggles. She reaches desperately for the sparkly horn of the unicorn, but she is trapped inside the high walls of graph paper with a maze full of tie-clad engineers instead of snorting minotaurs. Despite it all, she plays the guitar a little, draws a little, and now can do the underhand flick and the cattleman's crack.

Very cool whip, Jessie. I love that heel knot!
