The crown start is finally transferred to the handle.
It still needs to be tightened up but it's on.

Ron, getting that crown start on the handle and tightening it up is a test in patience for sure. Good job.

Unfortunately I failed 'Buzzard 101' .

I had to take the 'start' off of the handle and start over.
When I had it on and tightened, the strands just looked funny and the back did not look right.
Right now it's laying on the floor ready to do it right.

I found out I did not take some strands around the back correctly like Philbert showed in his tutorial before I put it on the handle. If it had been available when I first did it, there would not have been a problem.
But thanks to Philbert I was able to see where I went wrong and am now in a position to fix it.

You're welcome Ron, just make sure in future, check and follow the stands to see if it's the correct one as they tend to overlap or twist. That issue will go away by itself after you are done plaiting the first few strands.

Day five of messing with the crown start.

I am now on the umpteenth try and if it does not work I don't know what else to do but give up for now on the 'fancy plaiting'.

Or maybe I am being just too critical.

Oh Ron. This saddens me. I believe though, that your turk's head will cover that start? Maybe it's time to just start it and let it buck.

Jessie, I know what you're saying.
I just hate "giving" up.
And just knowing what's under the knot will haunt me.
I want to do it right and make this whip the best it can be.

Seeing, Bobbi's , Taylor's , Bernie's. Giovani's, Roy's, Rachel's, etc. plaiting inspires my creativity, but it looks like not so much my hands.

Can someone explain, when going around the back, why you plait two strands from the right, then two strands from the left in stead of one from the right and one from the left... one left , one right, etc. ?

Going around the back is where the problem lies.
Keeping all the strands oriented and not twisted doesn't seem to work.
It still is not right for some reason.
