Craig, it will be very interesting to see if you think there's a difference in the result of binding this way (post 356). It looks good....

I love how chunky your whips are, they look like they would be good and heavy good smooth taper too . Really like the antler handle on that whip, superb job

Thanks, Charlie. My whips are definitely not light and fast.

Working on the overlay.

Did they decide on the knot colors?

No. She wants me to decide. Maybe I'll do a two colored heel knot.

It's nice to see your whips getting better and better!

The taper is nice, the thong is smooth and even and plaiting is nice and straight.

The transition looks short though, and I'd advice to sometimes try and use less of the tape.
Especially on the handle you can see how the plait count has trouble covering width.
You could counter that plaiting on a steeper angle horizontally, but that will slightly skew the square chessboard pattern.

Robby - the handle takes a little getting used to, but overall it cracks really easy. Yes, it took me a while mostly due to lack of resources and uncertainty about how to proceed, but I was very happy with the final product.

It's shipped now. I hope the recipient enjoys it. ;)

Who ever will receive this whip... I think he'll be one happy person. This is the first whip I've ever seen, that has an handle made entirely from Antler! Nice work, Craig. Nice work!

Robby - thank you for your kind words. I hope it doesn't disappoint in function.

Warrant officer whip done. It's not without many of my usual flaws, but it sure is stiff and cracks really easy.

The concho in the end sure looks nice.

Pretty awesone whip. I really like the concho. It blends in and pops out at the same time.

Thank you, everyone. Sorry for the delay on my response.

I think Arizona is giving me more inspiration in color selections. My next whip may be Fire and Ice.

Ron - thank you.

Also, after mulling it over for the last two weeks I've decided to give up on making my whips lighter. The lack of adequate stiffness on Roger's whip convinced me that I need to just bind the ever living bejesus out of my whips and let them be thick. The one that I made right before Roger's was super stiff because I didn't hold back.

Didn't get a chance to comment on the whip, better late than never. I think the warrant officers whip looks great, especially the concho. It really looks as though the whip and the concho were made for one another. They compliment one another so well. I have been leaning toward more binding lately as well. I have only had one whip that I thought was too stiff but after it broke in a little it was fine. Great work Mr Craig
