Arrrgh! I tried the new thong today and it cracks but not as loud I'd like. I don't know if it is just that I don't know how stockwhips should behave or how I should use it. The other thong is too light and this is kind of okay.

I think this is the point where I should just give up this project and do something else before I start hating it.

Jyri, it cracks fine.
Your stock whip is a success.

Loud is not a mark of how good a whip is.
A shorter, lighter whip will not crack as loudly as a long one.
It's not about the loudness but the finesse and artistry.
If you want loud, shoot a gun or go to a rock concert.

Thanks Ron! I don't yet know if I am going to take this apart and make bullwhip of this handle.
I think it could be interesting project and it could fit me better. But maybe I keep this thong for future.

Jyri, I really don't have enough experience with stockwhips to comment, but it looks just fine to me!

Jyri, just keep it and make a new bullwhip.
It's too nice to not to.

So little update. I took the handle and carved some steps to it to take the core and two plaited bellyes. The overlay will start just like the handle.

It is shotloaded but its still really light as intended. Becose the handle is really long i tought it would behave better as lighter one.

I made it really stiff too.
So next 16plait overlay. Is there some fancy name for this kind of whip or is it just really long handled bullwhip?

Jyri, did you think about lining up the chevrons from the handle with the chevrons on the thong? It might make it look more cohesive.
Other than that I really like those colors together.

Ron, I just started plaiting it that way so the seams line up

I didn't think about pattern then. That would have been cool tough.

Done! Made few silent craks out when my daughters were sleeping and it felt quite good. As expected its handle heavy but I dont know yet if it is too much or not. Exiting to see how it breaks in. I take better picture later.

Jyri that's beautiful, considering it used to be a stockwhip!

Thanks a lot everyone!! I made new long tapered cracker for it and gave it again silent craks and it keeps getting better and better feeling to it. Rolls out nicely too. I am going to take a video tomorrow after I come back from fishing.
