Ouch, but it'll be worth it.

That's why I took a pair of shooting gloves and cut off the first knuckle on the thumb, forefinger, and pinky finger.

I usually tape leather to the places wich usually gets hammered. I just tough i had enought bark on my hands as i have plaited very much lately.
Now that bark is gone :D

Jyri, I find that high plait count diamond plaits come out very ugly :O
You could also start the fancy plait straight from the herringbone instead of going to the diamond plait :)

Wow, Jyri, Don't know how you do it, I would never have the patience. The transition from the herringbone to the diamond plait looks really good.

Thanks!
Sparky, i like diamond but i think you are right, maybe i just double them.

Mark it looks good from that side but as i turned it i was all messy. With 550 cord diamond you have some space behind the thong but with this there is none.

Jyri, it's my experience to do baby steps. That's what works for me best.

First get used to the diamond pattern and then do fancy plaiting.
I'm not saying you can't, it's just how it works for me, it might work for you.

Even so, diamond plait is very tedious to do. Fancy plaiting even more so, is my current opinion.

Good luck, your doing fine.

Jyri, I struggled with the diamond plait in 275 (30-plt) and eventually abandoned it because it looked awful. I also tried some fancy plaiting but again , it didn't come out well at all so reverted to s amuch simpler pattern which has actually come out quite well. I must update my thread on the whip with some new pictures.

I simply LOVE this whip. Excellent work.

PS: for take care of my hands I use Petzl Cordex (Cordex Plus to be honest) goves (greath protection and good dexterity plaiting 550 paracord... I don't know how they would work using smaller strands)

Jyri, I admire your tenacity with this project. I don't know that I would have stuck with it like you did.

Marco, those gloves are a great idea.

Don't know about plaiting but those gloves look perfect for Summer motorcycle wear!

Jyri, I really like those colors together. This is coming along quite well.
