I'm on a roll tonight I guess. Wanted to see what that stock whip would look like with a transition knot and i certainly need practice so I made a foundation and did anither Turks knot to finish it.

Glady Ron! Most likely will be next week because I still need to give it a nice warm bath in wax and am traveling all week.

Just finished this whip tonight. 18 plait 3ft snake whip. Definitely the most colorful one I've made. It's going to be a Christmas present for my sister. Her husband will get one too, so that one is next. Overall, I'm happy with it, especially the seam which stayed pretty straight. Also, first time with twisted taper fall. I test cracked it and was really impressed, I believe the fall helped alot on this short whip. Just needs wax which will tighten it up

:
I've included the 2 bellies also.

After dinner, I gained a second wind about me...or a sugar rush but either way

:
I wanted to try a 2 layer flat braid keeper loop for my stock whip. Core is a twisted taper, belly is a 5 strand flat braid into a 10 plait, and overlay is a 6 strand flat braid with 12 plait going into a diamond plait then into herringbone. I'm planning to make it a 6 ft stock whip as long as the balance feels good based on my current measurements. I'm also going to try a 3/4" diameter 21" aluminum full plait handle. The current colors are just what I had ready without much though as a trial.

Finished stock whip. 5ft thong with 2 layers of flat braided keepers, and 2 tone twisted taper fall. I used the Manny method splice for the first time to do the fall. Stock is 16" full plaited aluminum. It goes from 12 plait to 16 plaited cover.

I like the color combination Collin.
How does it crack?

Thanks Ron! It cracks well. It's a little lighter than what I've been making between the aluminum handle and non shot loaded core, but after wax it should improve more.

Here's the finished cow whip. I went with a 3/4" hole for the cup and it was a tad tight...I had to go back and wrap tightly the thong in sinew to compact enough to get it in, but she isn't going anywhere now. The thong is a 2 belly 16plait which might have been over kill, but being a cow whip I christened it with a cattleman's crack, which it was happy to perform. This is the second turned handle I've done, and included the Spanish ring inlay. Might move it up towards the center next to handle.
PS. I really should get a new light for photos

Not bad at all, Collin. With regard to the handle, I think it would look more balanced with the bulge nearer to the thong - but that's purely personal. With a cow whip - well, with the only cow whip I've got, made by Roy - the weight is definitely not focussed in the handle, but in the thong. Your handle bulge seems to contradict that, in appearance if not in reality. But it's nicely done.

Robert, thanks! I am going purely off What I've seen, so advise from somebody who has actually used one is helpful. The thong is weighted, so it's definitely nose heavy, but I see what you mean if somebody were to just look at it without handling.
