When you make a whip...

As the title says, when you make a whip, where do you do it, and how do you anchor it? Just curious to see what people do.
I personally have made mine so far attached to my desk in my room, anchored to the desk with a C-Clamp pinching the whip handle between a flat piece of wood and the desk surface.

I have a little plaiting station that's attached to a vice, which is attached to a board that is attached to a large dresser.
Here's a picture I took shortly after cutting up a hide that has the plaiting station in it:

I keep supplies in a corner in my closet. I have a towel hook in the bathroom that is handy. I also use a doorknob in my kitchen.
To secure a whip for plaiting I have a loop of parachute cord. I lay the loop across the handle of the whip. I take one end of the loop through the other and tighten the resulting loop around the whip. I then hang the free end on my hook. I can place the tightend loop further down the whip as I plait.

Oh, for bellies ( no loose yoke ) I have a strand of paracord I have on the hooks that you can't see in that picture that has a special knot tied in it to hold the whip. It tightens and won't let go, but it's easy to undo quickly. It's the knot seen in this picture, I don't know it's name:

Is it kind of like a timber hitch in ABOK that falls apart after the tension is removed?
Nice tangle of leather Jeremy, looks like a nice setup. Loved the redhide Steve, it was almost a shame to see it cut up, but you sure can turn out a beautiful whip.
