Robby wanted it, so here it is. I just finished this whip for a customer that bought because of me being part of the Ring of Trust. The bullwhip is 8ft, 16 plait with 12 inch handle. The pattern was spiral under one over one, with a change underneath the 2nd knot into a normal whipmakers plait. I quite like this design on the handle.

I love the barber pole on a handle, it is quite cool. I think my favorite whip though is the one you posted in the guestbook.

Works for me. Gideon, make sure you are copying only from html forward. Exclude the opening and ending brackets and see if that works.

Guys are you using a mobile device to access the page? The links I posted show up on a desktop using Chrome. Perhaps try another browser? The url's are correct they just need a[/url] at the end of each of them and some text in the middle. For an image you take the url of the image itself and put it like "[img]url%20goes%20here[/img]" without quotes.

Perfect! What's also great is, that Simon had the order because of being a member of the WB Ring of Trust. That shows very clear that the idea's working. The word is spreading.

O.K. so the handle is alternating colours on both sides and the thong is all one colour on each side, how do you make the change?

Carl, the change was made under the 2nd knot. I just started with alternating strands, then cut and glued together on half the strands so that the joins disappeared under the 2nd knot. I've done this on whips when only 2 colours is wanted on the handle for initials in the same way. I've never had any issues as far as strength goes, and sometimes when I've tested strands for strength the strand has broken in a spot where is wasn't glued.

I have only worked in paracord and dacron so just wondered if there was a special trick!

You could probably do a similar thing with nylon by threading one colour inside the other and binding VERY tight under the knot. I haven't done this but I'm sure it would work.

While it's not a whip it is sort of closely related to what I do. Here is a picture of my first saddle I made. Its probably the only one I'll make until I've worn it out and need to make another. William who works for me, and that I taught whipmaking to, is passionate about saddles and has been making a few in the business for awhile. I ended up deciding to make one for myself under his watchful eye.
