Very nicely done Mark.
How does it crack?

Tanks Ron, it's a bit stiff in the transition, but other than that it cracks pretty easily. Just have to use Robby's patented "Amper Method of the Swiveling Handle."

Handle and thong colors go really well together! Also these are some great pictures that show how well the color scheme fits the Alibates flint.

Mark, I like those colours enormously - and the waxing has enhanced them! What a great looking whip!

Mark - I really love those two colors in combination.
When I saw the word "Flint" and and the rustic handle the story about "Treasure Island" came to me in pictures. You remember the one-legged Long John Silver with his wooden leg

.
Beautiful whip Mark

Thank you, Flemming. I didn't think about Long John until you mentioned him. That's one of the things about creating stuff that really appeals to me. I have one association to the thing I've made and someone else has a completely different connection to it. I really like that part of it.

This, Mark, if of course
exactly how the rich tapestry of human culture is constantly being woven!

I Love the handle! Spalted tamarind is one of the coolest looking woods I have seen. Was planning on getting some but seems you beat me to it!

Thanks Ethan, you should, it's pretty easy to work with and I agree, it's a very cool looking wood.

Ethan, one thing about the tamarind, though, I was going to have a cup on the end and not use a transition knot, but I got it too thin and it cracked, so I had to cut it off. This whip may have turned out pretty good but the silly thing fought me all the way.

Mark, that is the way with learning how to work with wood, it may turn out great or even just ok, but it is rarely how you imagined it. Or is that just me?

It's not just you, I start off with something in mind, but always end up just going with what ever the wood (or whip) wants me to do.

It's like they have a personality

The result is absolutely amazing, Mark.
The wood is really beautiful.
Did you treat the handle afterwards? It has a fine shine, or is it just polishing? Very fine work

Thank you, Nadine. I used tung oil on the handle
