Here's my offering for the pups for this year.

This is Buckaroo, a cow whip that has an 8-foot thong and a 16-inch Bocote handle. It has a twisted-tapered core and two plaited bellies, one a 4-plait and the other an 8 plait, of deerskin, and a 12-plait overlay of black and blue kangaroo. The fall is 24 inches and made of latigo, and the cracker is bonded nylon and is 8 inches long. The first foot of the overlay is in a gaucho plait that transitions to a herringbone for most of the remainder of the thong. There is a short section of birds eye plait at around the 2-foot point of the thong. There is a standard 6 strand fall hitch on the whip instead of a twisted taper end to the thong that is more common with cow whips. The overall length of the whip is around 12 feet from heel to the end of the cracker.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! To all of you who are donating! Thank you! The doggies won't be able to say that, but I say thank you for them I already mentioned it and I say it again: The smallest and tiniest whip group ever does lottery for years now and donated a whole lot of money for dog shelters. Other groups - who have 10, 20 and 50 times more members than we have here (Facebokk groups...) did and do nothing.

We may be the smalles whip group on the planet, yes. But we can be proud of what we do, right?

Here is Mr. Robert's donation. He's doing a lot of on the road stuff and asked that I post it for him.

Here is my contribution to the 2019 Dog Shelter campaign:

This is a 5 foot nylon stock whip by Einar Stephenson, which I bought on eBay in 2015 for $100. It's forest green & desert tan, with one plaited belly, a 16-plait overlay and an 18 inch fiberglass handle. The handle is also 16-plait, with a grapevine keeper knot. It has Einar's characteristic egg-shaped heel knot, which is very comfortable to hold.

Einar wrote at the time: 'This whip is designed with a very fast action and weighs in at 430 grams. It will serve well for fast routines and is balanced to crack easily. The material used to construct the whip is type II 650 nylon Paracord.'

When Robby came to visit me (was it that year, or the next?) he tried this whip and pronounced it 'very good', adding, 'Don't get rid of this one!' But, as I've said, I haven't actually used it for at least two years, and during that time have acquired several more whips, at least one of which is very like this one - so this one will go to the dogs!

Working furiously to finish my whip this weekend. Just need to do the overlay, the handle leather, and the knots. Here's what it will represent.

More are in progress, though has been hindered due to drawn out paramedic testing. Should be done soon.

Ok, just finished. So let me tell everyone my intent. This whip is supposed to represent the iconic Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western character, The Man with No Name (even though they clearly said in For a Few Dollars More that his name was Mandrake). The intent was for the overlay to mimic his poncho. However, depending on the lighting, his poncho can look more brown or more green. Coincidentally enough, I found a color of paracord that appears the same. Even more, I had to use two hanks and apparently due to different dye lots, one looks more brown and one looks more green.

The handle is wrapped in leather to represent his wrist brace. I wanted to give the whip a more rough and tumble western feel, so I used a leather end cap in place of the heel knot with a paracord handle wrap to keep it in place. Yeah. It had nothing to do with the fact that my heel knots suck.

Damn. Those pics suck. Let's try this again.

Green indoors, brown outdoors.
