This is the Gallery of "Wolf Creek Whips" - Rachel McCollough

This new Gallery replaces the former "Masters Gallery", which will work from now on as pure archive. Here you will find not only the work and art from folks who sell whips, but also from folks, who create their whips out of pure passion. And we have an additional gallery. It is called "The Gallery - Making of".

6' 16 plait chocolate brown (650 paracord) stockwhip with 18" cumaru handcut handle and whiskey kangaroo grip and keeper.
Loaded Twisted Taper Fall, 4 point fall hitch.

All supplies from Whip Nation

This is the fall hitch trick Lonnie taught me, to tuck that tail down and through so the cracker won't catch on it.

Rachel, WOW. Simply WOW.
Love the plaiting and color.
Are you going to cover the sinew (?) at the end?
How does it crack?
Great job.

Awesome plaiting design, and perfect color match. Most people will think that it is all leather until they get close. Thong looks very tight and well tapered. Great job Ms Rachel.

Rachel, that makes it look as if you've been making stockwhips for at least fifteen years! Well done! :)

How about a french grape vine over the binding at the end of the stock?
That would look cool.

Ron thanks :)
It cracks good- Smooth, straight rollout. I'm going to leave it at the keeper like it is, though a kangaroo grapevine would look neat :)

Fritz, thanks!

Mr. Johnny, thank you, I appreciate it.

Randall, thank you, I'm fond of that color, too!

Thanks, Matt!

Thank you very much, Mr. Robert :)
There are some small and hard to see little mistakes in the plaiting but it is a few new patterns to me. Next will be better :)
I also need to learn to cut lace properly...!

Holy crap Rachel that is spectacular. I've never heard of or seen a 16 plait nylon stock whip. That thing is a beautiful beast. Would love to see some video of it in action. Congrats on this build

The stockwhip that you've made looks mindblowing Rachel !!!

The roohide grip and keeper go very well with the handle and the color of the thong, the different plaiting patterns on the thong are very eyecatching and everything is crafted to perfection.
I agree with Robert - this stockwhip looks like you have been making them for many years - WOW !!!

Thank you very much, Ben and Roy.
I can't take full credit for all the ideas on this whip, as I had some great suggestions from a friend, but the thong is basically my heavy thong design plus keeper loops.

I need to learn to bevel lace for the handle for it to look good.

Roy here's a short view of it, though the whip is too big for Hagen you can get the idea of it.

Rachel, it performs very nicely.
Give Hagen a couple of years to gain some height and he's going to be quite a good cracker.

Now that's a beauty! The leather, nylon and wood play so well together.
Look at you going fancy on the plaiting ;)!

Maybe it's the littleness of the little man cracking it but it looks like a heavy whip!
16 plait on a nylon stock whip is something I've never heard either.

Beautiful as ever!

16 plait is great - but those great Australian makers went far beyond that. Here's a photo which I think comes from David Morgan's book Whips and Whip-Making.

I dare say Simon Martin could tell of other examples. he may even have made some himself! :)

Thanks Erik, it's a heavy type but no more than others I've made.

Mr. Robert yessir, I've seen photos of some finely detailed, beautifully crafted stocks! Thank you very much for sharing that illustration, 9 1/2 foot! Wow!
I dare say after my rather poor attempts at cutting lace I have the deepest respect for those whipmakers.
Have you seen Mr. Peter Thorndike's "The Man From Snowy River" stock? I believe it's 72 plait, amazing artistry!

I believe I will be best suited to stick with something a bit simpler than 36-72 plait! Like 8-16!!! That is a fine looking whip, Mr. Robert.
