  Dog Lead 8plt.

Post by Giovanni Celeste »

Hi Guys,
i know this is not a whip but i think it's always a useful example of braiding works applicable in the art of whipmaking.
This is a dog lead 130cm long 8plt roo hide over a kip core made for a Japanese customer.
the eight strans are back braided into the round braid,I've decided to put the cover knot to cover the place where the eight ends are tied off.
I hope you like it
Thanks for your attention
Gio

Oddly enough, when I wanted to get into whip making, I taught myself how to do the herringbone plait by making dog leashes for my two German Shepherds that looked almost identical to this -- but paracord. (I figured they'd be less likely to notice my mistakes... heh)

Nice work.. was at our local fair last weekend and saw a lovey horse tackle leather braided, but ws not able to get closer enough to him to even look at it.. but Braiding work is still good braiding work weather it is on a whip or other things :)

That is beautiful workmanship Gio. It looks like you even added a piece of wear-leather under the eye that holds the metal ring to make it last forever.

OmG - Jonathan... You look like one of the Shaolin monks in the 70s "Kung Fu" series! To make it perfect, you shouldn't smile and wear orange :) Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I had to say that - I loved the series. I loved Master Kan & Master Po!

What can I say, Gio's work makes me smile. :)

One more letter, Jonathan, and I'll turn your Username to Master Po. Serious! And yes - it were old times. But great times!

Gio - I appologize again, but it seems to be stronger than we are ;)

Jonathan - in all the privacy of this place. Just between you and I... I have the same jacket, David Carradine had back in the old series. The sand colored, collarless thing with the white fur and the cotton tapes to close it :)

p.s.
I'm disrespectful to Gio, here. So I opened this
