I have finished the plaiting of the 1st belly and the only thing left to do is the TT ending.
The plaiting is tight and straight with no gaps at all. (thank you Rachel)
It will have to wait until tomorrow because my hands have had enough abuse for today / night. :)
I will use the vice grip twirling method to help keep my hands from cramping up like they are right now.

I do believe this whip will be tons better than the first one. :)

Thank you Jessie.
That plant in the pot is a tree. I have no idea of what kind but it has little white flowers that turn into red berry like things several times in the summer.

Here I am using the door knob method for binding the belly.
It's hard on the hands and wrists, but well worth it. :)
The sinew starts at the door knob on directly in front of my hand ... goes over to the one on the door on the right... wrapped around a couple of times to stop slippage.... and then to the part being bound.

Alright, whip number two well on the way, congratulations! Progress photos are also always fun : )

I haven't tried the doorknob method, I really don't have room for that in my current apartment. Should make an extremely tight wrap though!

Erik, it only takes about 10' or so. Any further away and the sinew kind of stretches too much.
In the photo I am about 15' just to get the whole setup in the frame.
It's not as tight as David's "Binder Winder". I wish I had one right now.

So that's how you use a door knob to bind.It looks like i could get a tighter closed loop bind that way.I had though about using a bow string serving tool, but wasn't sure if i could get it tight enough with it.I saw someone making a bow string in a jig at a sporting goods store. I wonder if some sort of jig could be used.

Very nice binding Ron! Your whip is coming together. My only thought is that there doesn't seem to be much of a taper. Normally, you'd want to have a bit of a taper affect in every layer. I'm sure you'll get it all worked out though. Very nice sir!

I bind by clamping the roll of sinew in my vice a pulling the thong against it. By far the tightest binding I've managed to get. And yes, it is hard on the hands and wrists.

The binding is completed and rolled ready for 12 plait belly #2.
There is a very nice gradual taper from the transition to the end.

Mr. Robert, Rachel, I am pleased so far on how this is progressing.
Again , the help Rachel, and Jessie have given me is the key to the positive results so far. :)
