This is the Gallery of Giovanni Celeste

This new Gallery replaces the former "Masters Gallery", which will work from now on as pure archive. Here you will find not only the work and art from folks who sell whips, but also from folks, who create their whips out of pure passion. And we have an additional gallery. It is called "The Gallery - Making of".

Hi Guys,
I'm happy to show you two interesting works:
The first is a signal whip light blue (the same color of the meaning of my surname) dyed by hand.
The second project it was very interesting and formative.
Below you will find the history of this Arabic Australian Whip.
I thought to give this new name: Revenant 4ft
Kind Regards
Gio

Oriental Whip: Revenant 4ft

This unique whip, from the Middle East, was delivered to me by a customer in order to give a new life.
The whip has come to me in evident critical conditions.
The external plait was braided in cow hide.
The original braid was well plaited but the leather of the braid was very dry and stiff with some cracks along the strands..
The skin was so dry and hard to seem braided with wood strands.
I had to remove all the overlays and I’ve found that the only core of the whip was simply made up of a series of synthetic fabric layers (dry and easily friable) repeatedly wound on themselves!
The whip has been totally rebuilt.
The handle, characteristic and focal element of this whip, was maintained and repainted without altering the original color to cover some scratches on it.
The thong section was built with core, plaited belly and bolsters and the overlay was plaited in 12 strands in kangaroo dark mahogany.
Below some pics who showing the original condition of the product, his total disintegration and the final reconstruction.

Many thanks Rachel.
It was for me a great opportunity give a second life.
That beautiful handle had to have a new body.
I tyed two knots to provide a continuity of look at that exotic handle.
Tha same thing the chiice of the colored cracker.

Hi Robert, thank you so much for your feedback about the revenant and the celeste.
This one risked being eclipsed by the more interesting history of revenant.

Wow Gio! You breathed new life into that old whip. Very nice restoration job. The signal whip looks amazing. You have truly mastered the dying of the leather.

@ Giovanni Celeste:

Breathtaking excellent work Mr. Celeste !!!

I really like the signal whip. The tourqoise accent that you have put on the heel is a very nice and elegant detail. The restauration of the oriental whip is mindblowing: from what I can see you have not "just" done an excellent restauration but you have made this whip better than it ever has been (better taper, more elegant knots and a fresh inner life) !!!

All the best

Gio, amazing job, the light blue signal whip is definitely eye catching. The handle on the restoration piece looks really interesting. I think it's cool that you even made the color of the cracker match the entire whip.
