Stock whip

Some of you may be wondering whom received the leather stock whip from Jeff. Well friends it was ME. The weather has been too crappy to take it outside until today. I finally got to enjoy my first leather whip. This thing is very accurate and I had a blast destroying weeds in the yard. The knots and keeper are nicely done and rock solid. Thanks Roy and All! I so much wanted to "let the cat out of the bag" a while ago. I had fun making this whip and tested it before shipping it out.

Roy, I noticed you put a longer stiffer cracker on. How did that work out for you? What is it made of? I generally make mine about 6 inches long with about 1-2 inches past the knot. I have used 210lb bonded nylon thread in the past but recently switched to 135lb bonded nylon.

wow - you aren't kidding, that is a super long cracker - never tried that style, might have to give it a go.

Thank you all, it is beautiful. I enjoy looking at it as much as cracking it. Jeff that cracker is Dyneema string and its 12" to the knot with a 1" tassel. It makes a sharp crack and its very durable. I like them for target work. I will try to get some video of this whip in motion over the weekend.

Thank you Fritz and Mario. I requested to Jeff that I wanted a whip with a nice simple appearance, the look of a working man's whip. He did as I asked but it's simple appearance is simply beautiful. I had full intentions of carrying this whip on my horse to work cattle but now I don't want to get it dirty

I really love seeing stuff like this. Nothing wrong with decorative and fancy whips either as long as they're not overly flashy, but the "look of a working man's whip" -- as Roy put it -- appeals to me in a whole different level. Makes the whip look like it really has a purpose.

Jeff, I used to prefer shorter crackers too, but had a change of heart on that after some testing. A longer cracker can really make a big difference in how the whip responds.

Thanks Andreas! Mr Robert I agree, working whips need the proper look. I will give it a good coating of conditioner and then give it a good coating of reality.
